Red-White-Blue Breakfasts for 4th of July and Recipe Round-Up

Hello good day everyone!! So today, is a big day with lots of events happening!! First of all, as the title says it’s 4th of July!! Biggest American Holiday of the year! Americans all over the country are celebrating today with their friends and families and well, I have seen lots of really cool recipe ideas popping up in the blogosphere with the Red-White-Blue theme.

And what else is happening? Well, there is a very important gameΒ of the FIFA Soccer World Cup happening this afternoon: Brazil vs. Colombia, and I am nervous,Β because my Mr. Superfoodista is one of the biggest soccer fans there is and since he is also very Brazilian, he will be rooting feverishly for his team today. I really hope they will progress to the semi final round (sorry Colombians)!

And lastly, there is another round of Fiesta FridayΒ starting today that I have the honor to host with the fabulous Margherita from La Petite Casserole and of course the lady of the house, Angie from The Novice Gardener. To join the party, please check out this link. It’s really a fantastic event, where you can see a vast selection of recipes and other great ideas for the weekend! You can contribute with anything that you think seems fit for a Fiesta – and maybe even the 4th of July! πŸ˜‰

Well, soΒ as everyone knows, for a big day like this, you need a Breakfast of Champions! So let me share with you today some of the breakfasts I created in the past for my instagram account, all with the patriotic Red, WhiteΒ and/ or BlueΒ colors! Of course all loaded with Superfoods! πŸ˜‰ The above picture by the way, is a fruit salad, served in half a coconut.

Anti-Oxidant smoothie:

Blend frozen Berries and milk of your choice to a thick smoothie, top with blueberries and pomegranate seeds! Berries are all super rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C!

Blueberry Parfait:

Just layer Greek yogurt, granola and blueberries – rich in protein, fiber and antioxidants too! Add some maple syrup or honey too sweeten if you like. Top with some coconut flakes.

Overnight Oats with chia seeds, cacao and a hot berry coulis

Just soak 4 tbsp old-fashioned oats, 2 tbsp raw cacao powder and 2 tbsp chia seeds with 1/2 – 1 cup of almond milk over night. In the morning add the coulis (which is just blended berries with 1 tbsp of maple syrup), top with the rest of the overnight oats, decorate with some berries. Rich in fiber, antioxidants and protein!

Greek yogurt bowl with berry fruit salad and hemp seeds

Greek yogurt, add fresh berries of your choice, then sprinkle with hemp seeds. Rich in protein, antioxidants and healthy fats.

Home-made fruit yogurt

Mix Greek yogurt with a fruit of your choice, blend well, sweeten with some maple syrup to your liking, top with berries. Rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C and protein.

And well, should you still crave for more Red-White-Blue inspiration, check out this fantastic compilation from the Foodiecrush. It’s from last year, but the recipe collection is more than timely and simply wonderful!

So to my American readers, I wish now a wonderful and happy 4th of July celebration! To everyone enjoy your weekend and hope you are just going to enjoy it, no matter what you are planning.

Also, on a small side note, as mentioned previously, I am making some updates currently and it could be that my blog will be offline for a couple of days the coming week. I’ll be back however, hopefully with everything sorted out and a special post to celebrate my upcoming 1 year bloganniversary! πŸ˜‰

hugs, Sylvia

I love all of your red, white, and blue recipes, Sylvia, but especially the smoothie! It is so pretty and I’m sure tastes wonderful. Love the pomegranite seeds on top. I hope your summer is going well!

    • Sylvia says

Thank you so much Shari :-) Yes, the smoothies are always my favorites – so refreshing, especially with some ice or frozen fruits for the summer. Our summer here in Florida is really hot, but hanging in there and going to the beach is great. Hope you are having a good time too, I bet a lot of activities with the family? hugs, Sylvia

What a fun and beautiful post, so vibrant with colors, Sylvia. I’ve been eating overnight oats nonstop for the past month (so good!), and am eager to make your version of it. xx

    • Sylvia says

Thank you so much Ngan! Yes, overnight oats are sooo good! πŸ˜‰ And with Chia seeds mixed in it’s even better for you. I also love the addition of cacao as it gives it such a nice chocolaty taste! For some indulgence in the morning πŸ˜‰

I love all your red, white and blue ideas I want to try them all! And lucky for you, your husband must be very happy with yesterday’s result (although not so much with what happeed to Neymar!), my best friend was not so happy as she is a Germany fan and she wanted them to be playing Colombia next! Hope you had a great holiday

    • Sylvia says

Thanks so much Michelle for your kind comment! πŸ˜‰ Oh yes, my hubby was happy – and my weekend saved! πŸ˜‰ Yes, but poor Neymar, I hope he’ll get better soon. But he’s probably out for the next game – might be an advantage for Germany. However, I still hope the Brazilians will make it one round further! πŸ˜‰ hugs & thanks for stopping by!
