Award Weekend: WordPress Family and Versatile Blogger Award (and Quinoa-Spinach Pancakes)

Hey my dears! Wow, this week, I felt so honored! I couldn’t believe it, but was nominated for 3 different Awards – I felt so touched! When I started this blog about 4 months ago, I would have never thought it would become such a wonderful part of my life and people would care to read it – and moreover that I would meet so many wonderful and fantastic, talented and beautiful people out there! I feel we are all share the same passion – mostly it’s food related – and the mutual exchange has been so great – it was one of the best things to do to start this blog! Thanks again to all my lovely readers and friends.

Well, today, I am going to write about and pass on two of the awards. The third one which I received from the lovely Abby from Tohealthblog: Welcome to Abby’s Kitchen, I will have to do another time, because well, they are a tiny bit time consuming and I want to give each of them enough credit! πŸ˜‰

WordPress Family Award

I was nominated for this award by the lovely gmofreegirl. I came across her blog randomly a couple of months ago, but I was fascinated right away by the beautiful photography and all the wonderful recipe ideas she has been posting. Since then, we have been exchanging recipe ideas and tips on a regular basis – and I just love her, she is such a sweet and kind person, and I am just amazed how she creates and cooks up all these recipes and is such a great mom at the same time! I would definitely consider her as part of my WordPress family πŸ˜‰

I would like to pass this Award on to following 10 amazing and wonderful bloggers who I also consider part of my WordPress family, because I just appreciate their continuous support, and some of them, like Amy and Allison have been around since day one, continuously encouraging me with their comments and likes πŸ˜‰

Go check it out, you won’t regret it.Β This Award comes with 7 random facts about me – I’ll list them below, but first of all, I want to listΒ my 10 nominees. I nominated them, because I find all their blogs truly inspiring and simply wonderful. They share their passion on their respective blog and I wanted to let them know that I really appreciate what they are sharing and I am a big fan of theirs! πŸ˜‰

And for the nominees: Here are theΒ rules for the Award, but as always, participation is of course voluntary πŸ˜‰

  1. Display the award certificate on your blog
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you
  3. Present 10 awards to 10 – 15 deserving bloggers
  4. Inform your nominees that you have nominated them
  5. Write 7 random facts about yourself

So, ok, and here are my 7 random facts:

  1. I was born in Thailand, but when I was 2 years old, we moved back to Switzerland; my mother is Thai, my father is Swiss
  2. Due to my multi-cultural background and where life has taken me in the past 35 years, I speak 6 languages: German, English, French, Thai, Spanish and Portuguese
  3. I can move my ears to the rhythm of the music πŸ˜‰
  4. I am addicted to massages, unfortunately, the only place I live and was able to afford them on a weekly basis was Bangkok πŸ˜‰
  5. I love yoga, I have been practicing it for about 5 years now and it really helps me to relax and focus better, I also feel my upper body got stronger due to yoga – it’s the best exercise you can give to your body
  6. I currently live in Miami and I would like to settle down one day in Zurich, but in between I wouldn’t mind living in these cities: New York, Barcelona, Bangkok or London
  7. Following destinations are on my travel bucket list: Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Chile (Easter Island), Galapagos, Komodo, East Coast Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Sumatra (and probably many, many more!)

Ha, this was actually fun! πŸ˜‰Β

Ok, and a post on my blog wouldn’t be one without a recipe as well! πŸ˜‰ I am featuring therefore something I had for breakfast today, a Quinoa-Spinach pancake. I used the same recipe as for my Quinoa pancakes, but blended the coconut milk first with a handful of spinach, to give it this nice green color. I also used a flax egg (= 1 tbsp ground flax seeds and 3 tbsp water) instead of a real egg to make it vegan. The pancakes are then topped with some thick coconut cream and pomegranate. A real Superfood brekkie!! Enjoy! πŸ˜‰

Thanks again for the nominations! big hug!! Sylvia

Merci beaucoup for your kind words!! ;-)) I really appreciate them!! I need to head over to your blog soon to check it out. I am travling now, but when I get home. Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ˜‰

  1. laurasmess says

Congratulations on your well-deserved awards beautiful! I’m loving everything you do already and this is only my first visit. Those quinoa breakfast pancakes look incredible… the contrast of the green with the red pop of the pomegranate is amazing. Definitely trying them, yum! xx

    • superfoodista says

Thank you so much Laura!! So happy we found each other in the bloggers world!! As you know, I love your blog too and can’t wait to read more from you! We will definitely be in touch! πŸ˜‰ hugs, Sylvia

  2. Allison (Spontaneous Tomato) says

Thank you so much for nominating Spontaneous Tomato! And those pancakes look delicious… I love the color (and I am such a sucker for anything with pomegranate seeds).

Also, re: your #2 fact about yourself, I am very jealous that you can speak so many languages! I’m a language nerd, but I can only really speak 3 well even though I’ve studied at least 4-6 others, some seriously, others less so…

Anyway, thanks again, and congrats on all of your awards! :)

    • superfoodista says

Hi Allison, thank you so much!! I am a big fan of decorating my food with pomegranate! They always look so pretty, like rubies on your food πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ˜‰ am sure you can count those additional 4 – 6 languages (wow!!! which ones??) you have learned as well! My Spanish and Portuguese are not thaaat perfect, but I can survive on them and counted them too! πŸ˜‰ hugs, Sylvia

      • Allison (Spontaneous Tomato) says

The only languages I’m confident about (besides English) are Japanese (but I’m better at speaking than writing) and Spanish (but I’m better at writing than speaking!). The other ones I’ve studied by actually taking some kind of classes are Korean, American Sign Language, Italian, and Arabic, and then I’ve (kind of) tried to teach myself some Portuguese and French but without much success! Haha, I think I should just commit and focus on one at a time… :)

Anyway, it’s awesome that now you have windows into Romance languages, Germanic languages, and Thai, so if you want to learn any languages related to any of those next, you’d have a big advantage!

        • superfoodista says

Wow!!! Japanese!!! Amazing, I am impressed! I tried to learn Japanese when I was at University, but it was too difficult, so I gave up. Because I had to learn all these signs too…And so cool, all the other languages you tried to learn, they are all not easy ones πŸ˜‰ I think you should give Portuguese or French another try since they are kind of similar to Spanish – so nice to meet another language AND food fan! πŸ˜‰ hugs, Sylvia

  3. cookazido says

Congratulations, Sylvia! You definitely deserve these awards. And, thank you so much for nominating me! I was very surprised and appreciate it very much. Your blog is great because you are helping others be more healthy, and in such a tasty way, too. I am so glad that we connected and wish you all the best in your blogging.

  4. celestedimilla says

Congrats chica!! That’s amazing to me that you speak 6 languages. I struggled just trying to learn Spanish so I gave up. Anyway, thanks so much for the nomination – I really appreciate it! Celeste :)

    • superfoodista says

You are welcome dear Celeste! Thanks so much for stopping by today! πŸ˜‰ well, most of my languages, I learned as a child, so it’s much easier. I learned Spanish and Portuguese now as and adult and it’s really much harder! So it’s not perfect, just need to keep practising πŸ˜‰
I am glad to have found your blog and just wanted to let you know with the nomination!! πŸ˜‰

  5. Hilda says

Congratulations Sylvia for well deserved awards!
I enjoyed reading about your facts. There is a saying in Farsi which says something like, ‘you are as many persons as languages you speak’. Wow!
I also love massages, and did enjoy affordable ones in Thailand, everyday we were visiting! πŸ˜€
Thank you very much for thinking of me, I also feel you as family I found in WP!
    πŸ˜€ Fae.

I would love to hear your thoughts!
