Oat-Cacao Pancakes and 10 Questions for me

Hi good night, this is a spontaneous post, as my dear friend Scarlett from the most amazing blog Fork and Flower has asked me to share a few things about myself and well, I am feeling chatty tonight, so I am happy to comply with her request 😉

But, oh well, first let me tell you, I am totally, helplessly IN LOVE with her blog. It’s one of the most classy and elegant ones out there. I don’t know how she does it, but she has probably one of the most beautiful apartments in Zurich (I need to see it one day!), and she makes fabulous food which she serves on these fantastic vintage serve wares – it’s a dream. I just love to dwell on her blog and day dream…oh yes. And what I also really love about her is that she lives in my beautiful city Zurich! Well, I am not there right now, because oh well, I am temporarily exiled to Miami for love, but I hope to be back there one day! 😉 Anyways, love this classy and witty lady’s blog – so when you have a moment, check it out – totally worth it.

So, ok let’s get started with the questions, shall we? 😉 I didn’t come up with my own (yes, sorry Scarlett, I was too lazy as well :-) ) – so this is what she told readers about herself and what I will do too:

 1) As you look past your computer right now, what do you see? The lovely, most amazing, wooden dining table! Unfortunately it’s not ours, and we will move in 2 weeks, so I am solely but surely bidding my goodbye to him (*sob, sob*). He was such an amazing photo shoot companion, it will be hard to find a replacement in the new place :-( Otherwise, some candles (I love candles, especially those with exquisite smell), my camera, iphone, a Basil plant, a Bonsai, etc. Well, nothing exciting really – sorry.

2) Which future project are you most excited about? Hm, oh many!! But right now, the one that is closest: My Christmas and New Year vacation that I will be spending in Switzerland and Thailand – my two home countries. So super extremely excited, I am almost exploding while writing this! (and yes, it counts as a project, because it was a mission to get somewhat affordable flights for this time of the year!)
And besides that, in a way our move to another part of Miami, it will be more centrally located which is kind of nice as we will be able to do everything on the bike during the weekends (I miss Switzerland’s public transportation system).

3) What’s on your wishlist for christmas? Uhm…nothing really specific. I am really super happy to be able to spend my Christmas vacation with my family, so this is my gift. And well, if something materialistic – a gift voucher from Anthropologie so I can go crazy and buy up all their lovely plates, mugs, dish clothes to be featured as props on my food photographs?? 😉

4) What’s your worst experience as a blogger, so far? Nothing of significance really – and oh well, on the other hand, I have only been blogging for about 4 months so far…So, touching wood!

5) And the best experience? Aw, so many!!! Really, it was one of the best decisions in my life to start my blog! Through blogging, I met so many wonderful, talented and kind people – mainly likeminded ladies. I guess, because I am writing about food, duh?? Anyways, every comment I get, it’s such a highlight for me and the mutual inspiration and to sum up, it’s just such a wonderful community I have been able to enter through blogging. I love every single of my fellow bloggers I have been able to meet over the past few months!

6) What are you currently craving? Through my Superfood journey, I discovered a recipe on how to make your own chocolate…oh yeah, there it goes…very dangerous that I know that now….

7) What’s your plan for blogging? and is there a “plan b”? Well, it’s really a hobby, something I am doing besides work. I hope to be able to post on a regular basis moving forward – it’s just so wonderful. Well, a dream would be do be just doing this one day (= cooking, taking pictures, writing, eating) –  but let’s see where this journey is going to take me. But right now, I love my work and company too much, so it will remain my full-time job for a while for sure.
Oh, but one thing: One of the next milestones I have for blogging, is to join my first blogger conference in May 2014, because it will take place in Miami coincidently – anyone caring to join me? 😉 Would be so much fun!

8) Which brand are you currently obsessed with?
Clothes: Lucky Brand Jeans (best jeans ever – because isn’t buying jeans just such a frustrating experience? But I discovered that these look really encouragingly nice on me :-) ), All Saints (just can’t afford it, *sigh*), The GAP (great basics – and I love to pick up baby clothes from there for my mommy friends), Roxy (I know, I am soon getting a bit too old for that, but just like to feel like a surf-babe from time to time..lol..sorry), Lululemon (beautiful yoga clothes! A bit pricey too though)
Things for living: Teavana (most amazing teas!! and you can try their creations at the store), 365 (Wholefoods’ fantastic “low-budget” organic food line – I am a sucker for organic food  since I became a Superfoodie) and Apple (I am a closet computer nerd and gadget-girl)

9) What’s your beauty tipp of the moment? I am not much of a cream and tube and beauty product in general girl, but what I LOVE to put on my face after cleaning it, is this Rose Floral Toner that I bought at Sephora this summer – it smells divine of roses and cleanses off all the potential make up remains from your face, plus comes with a very handy diffuser)

10) If you could shut down your computer right now and call it a day, what would you do with the rest of the night? It’s really quite late and Sunday night and I have a challenging week ahead of me – so yes, I am going to sleep!

So, that’s it folks – hope that there was one or the other interesting fact about me. I usually don’t write about me so much, so hopefully you are not asleep by now…zzz…boring…heeheehhee…

Ok, so to make up for this, I am sharing with you what we ate for breakfast this morning, it’s of course a Superfood recipe: Oat-Cacao pancakes. Omg, they were delish! They contain oats and cacao as Superfoods.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup oats, finely blended
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2/3 – 1 cup milk of any type
  • 1 flax egg (= 1 tbsp grounded flax seeds and 3 tbsp water) or normal egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1  – 2 tbsp coconut oil (for baking the pancakes)
  • Fruits and maple syrup (or agave nectar) for topping

Preparation:

  • Mix all ingredients together
  • In a pan, heat the coconut oil and bake the pancakes carefully one after the other, on each side about 2 – 3 minutes
  • Serve on a plate, topped with maple syrup, agave or honey, some fruits (and for the non-vegans: I also topped them with 1 tbsp of greek yogurt)
