Salmon Avocado Trio

Finally a recipe with Salmon! Salmon is known as a great source of omega-3 fats, and of course, it’s just delicious! A few weeks back, I had this amazing salmon tartar while having a drink with a few girlfriends from work – and yes, this is another recipe inspired by a restaurant in Miami! πŸ˜‰ Namely, Dolores, but you can call me LolitaΒ – quite a particular name, I know, but they have really fantastic food.

As it was dark out on the terrace where we ate our food, I am not that sure how it looked like, so the visual is purely a re-creation as how I imagine it must have looked like – by tasting the dishes’ wonderful components. The salmon tartar came with a fruity sauce and then there was some plain avocado on the side and a genius salad of cucumber and pickled ginger. All components go so well together and just create a fantastic overall taste.

This dish contains following Superfoods:

  • Salmon
  • Avocado

Ingredients:

  • Raw salmon – Sushi quality (ask that they give you salmon that is intended to be eaten raw, and it should be really fresh, otherwise it will taste “fishy”)
  • 1/2 Mango
  • 2 slices of Pineapple
  • 1 tbsp Agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon Lime juice and some to marinate the salmon
  • Pepper and salt
  • Pickled ginger
  • 1 Avocado

Preparation:

  • Cut the salmon in tiny cubes and marinate for 15 minutes with a little bit of lime juice and soy sauce
  • Then form the salmon tartar into a small “cake”; if you don’t have a form, you can improvise like me and just form a ring with some parchment paper and then put the salmon inside it, carefully form the cake and then remove the paper
  • Make the fruit sauce by mixing the mango, pineapple, agave nectar, lime juice, salt and pepper with the blender
  • Mash the avocado and form a small scoop
  • Cut the pickled ginger into small pieces, grate the cucumber to get small stripes
  • Arrange every thing on a plate: Pour the fruit sauce carefully over the salmon tartar, arrange the cucumber-pickled ginger salad next to it and then carefully place the avocado scoop on it as well
  • Serve wit some tortilla chips (I found some with lime flavor – amazing!)
