Avocado Smoothie

The first time I got offered an Avocado Smoothie was when I traveled to Indonesia for work a few years ago. I just thought…ewww…are you kidding me? Avocado? Smoothie? No, thanks, I only know Avocado in Guacamole-format, which is rather something savory. But well, a brave and open-minded traveler that I usually try to be, I gave it a go – and wow, amazing!! It just tasted lovely. The drink was creamy, only slightly sweetened and all flavor profiles just blended in so well. I then traveled to some more countries in Southeast Asia and discovered that also in Vietnam, Avocado smoothies are very popular. And then I also discovered them in Brazil! And reading later that Avocados actually is a fruit, not a vegetable, it all made somewhat more sense to me… Β :-)

In Asia, you can usually buy the juices from street vendors, like the one below:

This recipe is a really easy one that I created for my home-use, I added some Chia seeds for some extra protein and fiber content and this smoothie contains following Superfoods:

  • Avocado
  • Chia seeds

  • Put all ingredients in a blender or in a pitcher to be blended

Adore avcado! It’s so inspiring fruit (yes, that’s a fruit) and full of potential. Thank you for such a wonderful idea. I often eat avocado just spinkle with sea salt. Must be soft and ripe though. Heaven! :)

There’s boba shops here in Southern California that sell avocado smoothies. They’re very popular. The one you made looks delicious, the color really pops!

I would love to hear your thoughts!
