The first time I got offered an Avocado Smoothie was when I traveled to Indonesia for work a few years ago. I just thought…ewww…are you kidding me? Avocado? Smoothie? No, thanks, I only know Avocado in Guacamole-format, which is rather something savory. But well, a brave and open-minded traveler that I usually try to be, I gave it a go – and wow, amazing!! It just tasted lovely. The drink was creamy, only slightly sweetened and all flavor profiles just blended in so well. I then traveled to some more countries in Southeast Asia and discovered that also in Vietnam, Avocado smoothies are very popular. And then I also discovered them in Brazil! And reading later that Avocados actually is a fruit, not a vegetable, it all made somewhat more sense to me…
In Asia, you can usually buy the juices from street vendors, like the one below:
This recipe is a really easy one that I created for my home-use, I added some Chia seeds for some extra protein and fiber content and this smoothie contains following Superfoods:
- Chia seeds
Ingredients (for 1 small glass)
- 1/2 Avocado (should be really ripe and soft)
- 2 oz Buttermilk
- 4 oz Milk
- 1 tbsp agave nectar
- Put all ingredients in a blender or in a pitcher to be blended
- Carefully blend, until the smoothie is nice and smooth – pour in a glass and enjoy!
I wish you a very great start into the new week!! Have a fantastic Monday morning!
